Justin McGibbon

My name is Justin, I’m a First Degree Black Belt under the legendary Robson Moura as his point of contact in the UK and Ireland.

I moved schools due to geographical location and the ability to learn from my BJJ idol Professor Robson Moura who I consider to be the ultimate BJJ practitioner of all time. I have been part of the RMNU Family for over ten years now and cannot believe just how amazing my journey has been. 

I am South African born and raised but have lived in Northern Ireland for many years.  I have a background in Boxing, MMA, Traditional JuJitsu and last but not least Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

I fell in love with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu the first time I made contact with it and have never looked back…

2007 – 2008 | My BJJ Journey started in Dubai where I was fortunate enough to train under some amazing BJJ instructors such as Olavo Abreau, Suyan Queiroz and Carlos Santos who were crucial to the development of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the UAE. I was awarded my Green Belt by Olavo Abreu after being part of the team for approximately 1 year.

November 2008 – November 2013 | In November 2008 I moved to the United Kingdom for the second time. I was introduced to Ivam Maciel who at the time was recently awarded his Black Belt. Needless to say Ivam became an integral part of my BJJ and I have him to thank for all the strong foundational points in my BJJ and attitude towards practicing Jiu Jitsu. Ivam taught me many lessons through the years and it was with a heavy heart I left the team. Ivam awarded me both my Blue Belt and Purple Belt.

November 2013 – 2016 | I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to work for a close family member in Northern Ireland with the ability to travel to the USA as frequently as possible. It was at this stage in my journey that I joined the RMNU Family, I met Professor Robson Moura and was mind blown at the skills Robson possessed. I immediately fell in love with the idea of joining the team at whatever cost, I knew I wanted to be a part of RMNU from the moment I met Professor Robson, he was genuinely interested in helping me progress my BJJ. I have been with RMNU now for over ten years and have had the pleasure of training under Robson multiple times along with his 4th degree Black Belt Jeff Mitchell who visits us annually to help us grow as a team and as a club.

October 2016 – Present | I  was awarded my Black Belt by Professor Robson Moura and Jeff Mitchell, and I recently gained my First Degree. It’s with great pride that I represent Robson Moura and Jeff Mitchell and I look forward to sharing my knowledge with anyone willing to give me their time.

I have to make mention of Doug Kimball who was the key element in putting it all together for me and arranging my introduction to the RMNU Family and Lifestyle.

I hope to share the same knowledge I’ve gained in my short time as a BJJ practitioner and hope to walk beside you on your journey. Oss!
